portal is among the leading property portals in Germany. The e-commerce website stands out for its sophisticated advertisements and customised search results. Together with Immowelt AG, we developed the interactive concept and interface design based on the results of usability tests. In addition to intuitive operability, the joy of use was the central focus during implementation.

Emotional and user-friendly

For the relaunch of, we designed an emotionally engaging homepage. We optimised the search function so that it was highly user-friendly and, as a result, strengthened the provider’s brand. Plus, the integration of social media and user-generated content helped increase interaction with users.



The new information architecture puts the user’s needs first. We positioned the current, technically sophisticated search field on the homepage in a more visible place and optimised it using a new usability concept. This already met with great success in the first usability tests: users found the new search function to be significantly better, thanks to the improved search process, and described a positive user experience. In addition, we incorporated social media and user-generated content, such as comments or blogs, into the concept. This enabled users to communicate with each other, for example, about residential areas or insider tips. To create a buzz and successfully relaunch the website, we used online marketing tactics like Flash banners and a special landing page.

The portal „Wohnen und Leben in Deutschland“ [Residing and living in Germany] informs users about residential areas, property markets and renting property in Germany. The portal is orientated towards those looking for real estate who wish to be informed about a town, city or particular region prior to moving. interactive tools developed a concept for the new website “Wohnen und Leben in…”, responsively implementing the design so that all forms of presentation were user-friendly. In addition to encouraging users to explore a diverse range of topics, an interactive menu makes the website easier to navigate. And to entice the target groups, relevant information is integrated using innovative and attractive formats.
